2025 Fly on the Run

Jun 2025

Last month, GSI once again had the privilege of participating in the Lancaster County Career & Technology Foundation’s Fly on the Run fundraiser. This annual event continues to hold special meaning for us, as it directly supports Lancaster County Career and Technology Center (LCCTC) students through scholarships, workforce development grants, and teaching innovation grant awards.

The two-day event kicked off with a banquet where students from LCCTC’s culinary program showcased their talents with an incredible surf and turf dinner. The evening also featured a raffle and auction, with donated items going to the highest bidder. Items auctioned included a one-of-a-kind hand-tied fly by Tom Herr, 3D printed coasters and board games made by students, a bottle of 12-year Pappy Van Winkle, a fisherman’s lamp made by students, and many other unique items donated by students, attendees, and supporters.

The following day, teams gathered at Millport Conservancy for the fly fishing tournament. While the forecast had called for rain, the weather held out beautifully, and it wasn’t until later in the evening that the skies finally opened up. The great conditions made for a fun and competitive day on the water.

We take great pride in supporting LCCTC and its mission to train the next generation of skilled tradespeople. Since 2022, we’ve hired 14 employees with a LCCTC education, including four LCCTC students in the last year alone. In fact, 43 members of our current team are CTC graduates. We see the value of this education every day on our shop floor and at job sites across the country.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of everyone involved, this year’s Fly on the Run event raised $130,000 for LCCTC students—a tremendous show of support for the future of our workforce.
