SkillsUSA District Competition 2025
Dec 2025
Our Shop Superintendent, Cameron Leakey, recently stepped into a different kind of workshop — this time as a judge at the SkillsUSA Team Welding Fabrication competition hosted by Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology. This event brought together local welding students in a hands-on challenge that mirrors the real world of fabrication and welding.
The SkillsUSA competition requires teams of three students to build a project from provided prints and materials, putting their welding and fabrication skills to the test under time pressure and real conditions.
Cameron joined industry professionals in evaluating and ensuring each team’s work met the high standards that skilled trades demand.
At Goodhart Sons, we know the value of precision, communication, and craftsmanship — the same values students demonstrate during this competition. Events like these are more than a showcase; they’re a proving ground for the next generation of skilled tradespeople. Our team’s participation underscores our commitment to supporting workforce development and encouraging careers in manufacturing, welding, and fabrication.
We’re proud of Cameron’s involvement and grateful to SkillsUSA, Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, the instructors, judges, and students who made the event possible. Supporting opportunities that build real skills and confidence is essential — and it’s work we’re honored to be part of.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to engage with our community and help strengthen the pipeline of skilled professionals entering the trades.
